Matias’s practice began with graphic design and has grown to include building companies, digital products, and motorcycles. While the disciplines have changed, curiosity has kept him focused on how an idea becomes something people can see, use, and connect with.
Born and raised in Barcelona, Matias studied graphic design at Escola Massana. Designing for DJs and clubs gave him an early space to experiment with typography and identity. Moving to New York widened these possibilities while exposing the limits of a profession in which getting noticed often depended on who could put a physical portfolio in the right hands. That experience would become the starting point for Behance, which Adobe acquired in 2012.
Since then, Matias’s practice has grown through projects that challenge him to learn something new: how to build a platform, tell a story in a book, or take a motorcycle apart and make it better. Two Wheels South and Myth Motor bring that approach into his work as an author and motorcycle builder.

CAREERS
Co-founder & Head of Design
Matias co-founded Behance and led the design of its brand, digital, and physical products. Building a platform for the creative community brought together identity, interface design, conferences, books, space design and ultimately, the way creative work is presented and discovered online. His work from this period included 99U’s conference identities, magazines, and books, as well as Super-Modified: The Behance Book of Creative Work.
After Adobe acquired the company in 2012, Matias continued as Head of Design until 2015.

In 2016, Matias and Joel Estopà set out from Brooklyn for Ushuaia on two BMW R80 motorcycles. The journey covered 20,000 miles and 13 countries, taking them through North, Central, and South America.
That experience became Two Wheels South, a 272-page book combining photography, stories from the road, and practical preparation for long-distance motorcycle travel. It brought his interests in editorial design, photography, and exploration into one project.

Founding partner · Founded 2015
Matias is a founding partner of Satellite Lab, a creative studio and research laboratory developing in-camera technology for film and photography. The studio’s work brings together image-making, lighting, and technical experimentation.
Satellite’s proprietary technologies include DynamicLight, which allows light to move through scenes captured at high speed. At Satellite, Matias brings design and technical experimentation together to expand what can be captured in-camera.
Matias founded Myth Motor in Brooklyn to bring his design practice into the workshop. Myth is a custom motorcycle project rooted in BMW airheads (classic motorcycles with air-cooled boxer engines), a love of mechanics, and firsthand experience of long-distance travel.
Myth’s work spans complete motorcycle builds, components, and riding apparel. The brand’s meticulously designed, hand-built motorcycles carry the same attention to proportion, materials, and use that Matias brings to a visual identity or a digital product. Building by hand keeps those decisions connected to how things actually work.
